Acrosslimits - Back to work!
Dear friends,
Back to work! The summer party is finally over, and we're back in our offices chasing deadlines, projects and clients once more! Actually most of us are traveling during all of this month and the next, since everyone seems to be waking up after the lull in the hotter months, and meetings, conferences and events are taking the AcrossLimits gang all over the place - Ireland, Belgium, France etc etc

As I'm writing this, I'm actually in Brussels, setting up our stand for ICT2010, where we're very proud to be one of the only 20 SMEs chosen to exhibit in this great event. We've also heard that Prince Philip is opening the exhibition, with journalists running behind him all the way, so it's great that we have our own little AcrossLimits purple uniform here, or I would be stressing on what to wear! We're also documenting the setup of the stand, so don't worry ... in the next issue you'll get a peep behind the scenes too!

In fact if you have some great photos to share, why not collect them and enter our Expo competition (to be launched soon!) and win yourself some great prizes? Find us on Facebook or read below to see what it's all about.

Take care...and now off to meet the prince!,

Establish project meeting with SMEC conference in Dublin
Establish partners meetingAnnalise, Maryrose and Angele attended the Establish project meeting and SMEC Conference that was held in Dublin from the 12th to 17th September. The objective of the project is to create materials based on the inquiry based teaching method for teaching science to students of ages 12-18.

Inquiry Based Science Education implies involvement that leads to understanding. Furthermore, involvement in learning implies possessing skills and attitudes that permit you to seek answers to questions and issues while you construct new knowledge.

The project is still in its first year and partners are preparing the materials and choosing the topics in the various scientific areas. Establish is a project with a duration of 4 years that commenced in January 2010.

AcrossLimits is contributing by using its technical expertise in developing the elearning portal part. The aim is to start with 3 pilot learning units in early 2011.

Angele said,"We hope that with the online teaching resources that will be created, more teachers will take the plunge to try IBSE in their day-to-day lessons with kids. This might contribute to make students enjoy their science lessons more, convince them to choose them as a viable career and thus lessen the shortage of scientists that exists throughout Europe"

The next project meeting is planned for February 2011 and will be held in Malta. Further information on this FP7 project may be accessed by visiting -
