Sizzling Summer

Dear friends,

I hope that most of you are reading this on a deckchair, but alas, I fear that like us, you're still with your nose to the grindstone working, even though it's the height of summer. We have to admit that it's been incredibly busy this year, although we hope that this is a good sign that economic activity is recovering... Fingers crossed!

And speaking of recovering, we are happy that Malta has made it back in the good books of the European Commission and finally the Lifelong Learning and Youth Programmes are back in all their full glory. Hooray! So nothing is stopping us from cooking more projects and hosting you for training. :-)

This month you can read about our meetings in Sweden for the Establish project and the workshop for blind people that we held in Malta a couple of weeks ago thanks to the Tell Me How project.

... and now pass me that suncream dear, ... the techies keep telling me that my monitor does not give out UV rays, but one can never be careful enough! :-)

Happy summer to all!

Wishing you all a great start to summer!

Take care,

Sun Shines again on TrainingMalta

We have great news this month, the European Commission has lifted its suspension of the Maltese National Authority (EUPA), and although mobilities to Malta were never suspended, we still managed to feel the brunt due to a misunderstanding by many countries that did not want to send people over. So things are looking up again now! We are also pleased to announce our courses for 2012, so have a look at our calendar and you will find that as well as our eLearning (Basic) and Media course, we have added a new course called 'Advanced eLearning Methods, Software and Tools' - ideal for those who already know the basics of elearning and for ICT teachers and administrators. "Tell Me How!" - Conference in Malta

Acrosslimits had the pleasure to host the “Tell Me How!” project conference in Malta. The event was held over two days on Tuesday and Wednesday, 26th -27th July, 2011 at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard.

Tell Me How! - Dissemination of the European Language Portfolio for the Blind and Visually Impaired is funded under the Lifelong Learning Programme - KA2 LANGUAGES - Ref: No 511622-LLP-1-2010-1-BG-KA2-KA2AM. The conference was attended by Ms. Diana Tsotova, the Bulgarian Coordinator and Ms. Katerina Athanassiadou, the Greek partner. Maryrose Francica opened the conference with a keynote speech explaining the aims and objectives of the project. The conference was attended by around twenty five blind Maltese people from various local organisations, some accompanied by their guide dogs.

The participants of the conference had the opportunity to try out for themselves on specially adapted laptops the tool developed by the project and proceeded to fill in their respective European Language Portfolio.

This model has been validated and approved by the European Language Portfolio Validation Committee and currently the process of obtaining the official European accreditation is in process. These rewarding results encourage us to go over to a wider dissemination process and exploitation of the ELPBVI.
